Should My Medical Practice be on Google+?

This is the question of the week.  With all the buzz about Google’s new social networking service called Google+ (or Google Plus), businesses of all kinds, including medical practices, are wondering how to take advantage of it.

The short answer:  Google+ is not quite ready for business.

Currently, there is no way to create a business page on Google+, and Google has asked that businesses do NOT set up a page for their business using a personal profile.  If you do, I suspect it will eventually be deleted.  At some point, Google may even penalize you in search results if you don’t play by their rules.

This does not mean you should do nothing.  Google+ shows great potential for improving on some of the best features of other social networking sites.  If you hope to leverage it for your business in the future, the best thing you can do now is join as an individual, and learn to use the system.  (Currently, you do need an invite to join – feel free to contact us if you need one.)
